User Manual

Export

The export screen is used to export the selected song or set in popular file formats. Besides allowing you to choose the location and file format for export, this screen also allows you to choose output options. When you are all done, tap on the Export button in the upper right corner to export and optionally upload your files. Tapping on the Cancel button in the upper left corner will close the window.

OnSong automatically selects the currently viewed song or set for export but you can change this in the Scope Menu.

Choose Export Location

Your selected export location is displayed here with the option to choose a different location. This will let you browse folders in the storage location to choose for export. Options include: OnSong® Drive, Dropbox, File Sharing, Files, Google Drive, etc. When you choose Dropbox or Google Drive in the Location Picker, the Export Location list opens with the folder you last chose already checked, so you can use it again or quickly pick another folder you’ve saved.

Output Options

This displays the file or files that will be outputted as well as the options that have been selected. You can change how the files are exported here.

Song Sheets

This is where you can choose the file format to export. This section focuses on the common types of file you would want to export including:

  • Adobe PDF is the best way to share your content in an easily printable and viewable format.
  • OnSong® Archive is the best way to share your content with other OnSong® App users. It has the full song, annotations, styles, and settings just as you see them making it customizable.
  • OnSong® Text is the content as it appears in the song editor within the app. If imported into another app, it will not include any annotations or style settings.
  • ChordPro shares your chords with other programs that read the ChordPro format.
  • Text File is similar to the OnSong® Text format, but uses the more standard *.txt file extension and prefers chords over lyrics and simplified metadata.

Song List

Check Song List to export a list of the songs in the sharing scope instead of the songs themselves. The list is saved as an Adobe PDF unless you choose another format under List Settings in Output Options, where you can also pick the columns, paper size, and orientation.

Other

These options are hidden by default since they can get in the way of ease-of-use. By turning on the Show all available file formats switch in the bottom toolbar, you can see these additional file formats which include:

  • OnSong® Binder is used for sharing with newer versions of OnSong.
  • OpenSong is a file format used by some open-source software.
  • HTML File can be used to view the song content in a web browser.
  • OnSong® Backup is a compressed file that contains the full contents of your library. You can import this file into another device to restore your library.
