Surprise! When you're rockin' a Bluetooth foot pedal, that iOS on-screen keyboard? Yeah, it ghosted you. This is because most Bluetooth foot pedals pretend to be a computer keyboard, so iOS is all "nah, we don't need that keyboard on screen, fam." You can drag that keyboard back into existence by jabbin' the red power button on the back of the module. You're welcome.
