Apple Music's Greatest Hits (That You Actually Own)

OnSong can link chord charts in your OnSong library to audio tracks in your iTunes Music Library on your device. You can browse your iTunes Music Library using the built-in Music app from your device's home screen. Apple provides tools & services to help you yeet your music onto your device.

The Throwback Feels

Back when iPods were cool & the first iPhones dropped, you jammed music onto your device using iTunes. iTunes is free software that was literally required to even touch your device. Since then, Apple got lazy & ditched the whole "plug into a Mac or PC" thing, makin' iPad & iPhones do their own bleepin' thing.

iTunes (Still Here, Still Confusing)

Most peeps who buy iPad or iPhone know iTunes. Honestly, the App Store is just iTunes's nerdy cousin who sells apps instead of sick beats, videos & whatever. The iTunes application isn't just media management—it's your golden ticket to Apple's massive ecosystem of music, TV shows, movies & apps (aka: where your money goes to die).

Plot Twist: You Don't Need iTunes

Here's the thing though—tons of people think you have to buy stuff from iTunes to use it on iPad or iPhone. Srsly, you don't. You can use iTunes to manage your own tracks or grab 'em from other vendors like Amazon. But Apple made purchasin' music through iTunes so fricking convenient that everyone just assumes that's the only way. Spoiler alert: it's not.

Getting Music Onto Your Device (The Long Version)

There's like, a few ways to load music onto iPad or iPhone. The OG way? Plug your device into a computer runnin' iTunes. Then add music to your iTunes library (either by buyin' stuff, usin' software that dumps tracks into iTunes like GarageBand, or just draggin' MP3s, AACs & other file formats into the iTunes window like you own the place).

iTunes sorts & manages your tracks from anywhere. Then you pick your device from the iTunes interface & synchronize or "Apply" your music to it. Learn more about addin', importin' & convertin' music using iTunes

Music in the Cloud (The Lazy Way)

iCloud showed up & Apple was like "yo, we made this easier." iTunes in the Cloud & iTunes Music Match let you access your music on your device without actually storin' it there. For most peeps this is clutch 'cause music collections are HUGE, you don't listen to half of 'em anyway, & they'd eat up your storage like crazy.

While OnSong can play music from iCloud, there's gonna be a lil delay while the song streams & buffers. Real talk: download your music to the device before you perform live. Trust us, network hiccups are the worst enemy of a good show & you want your audio blastin' smooth & instant. Learn more about iTunes in the Cloud
