Yeet Your Stuff In Here (File Sharing Edition)

File sharing is basically how ya move stuff on & off your bleepin' device when it's plugged into a computer with that USB cable thingy. If you're rockin' a Mac with a non-ancient version of macOS, boom — your iOS/iPadOS device shows up in Finder like magic under Locations. Windows users or people stuck in macOS time travel? iTunes is your best friend, srsly.

Dumpin' Files On

So first things first — ya gotta actually add files to your device using iTunes file sharing. Yeah, that means firin' up iTunes on your Mac or PC like it's 2009 again.

Huntin' & Peckin'

Tap that search bar at the tippy top of the list to hunt through visible files & folders by name. Start typin' to see stuff that matches your query, or smack that "Search" button on your keyboard to find files & folders that contain the words you're lookin' for.

Pickin' & Choosin'

Tap files to check & uncheck 'em for import. Totes can also use the Select All & Deselect All buttons at the bottom to go nuclear & select/deselect everythin' in whatever folder you're eyeballin'. Fair warnin' though — if you pick a backup file, OnSong will be like "Yo, importin' this backup will nuke your current library." Get it? Overwrite. If you say yes anyway (rebel!), OnSong imports just the backup & restores your whole library.

Bringin' It In

Got some files checked? Tap the Import button in the upper right & let the magic happen. Plot twist — if you're tryna import a file you already imported, OnSong's gonna make you pick what to do with that duplicate hot mess. Once the import party is over, you bounce back to All Songs like nothin' happened.

Sort-a-Palooza

Feelin' fancy? Change how these files & folders are sorted so pickin' 'em is less of a snooze. Tap the sort icon in the lower left & feast your eyes on these baller options:

• Name sorts files & folders alphabetically by name (A to Z, how borin').
• Size puts the chonky files at the top.
• Created yeets recently-made files to the top.
• Modified puts the most recently edited files up top.

Tap the ascending & descending order buttons at the bottom of this menu to flip the script & reverse the sort direction.

Burnin' Files

Wanna obliterate a file from iTunes File Sharing? Swipe right to left across the file name like you're angry at it. A Delete button pops up — tap it & boom, file's gone forever. No takesies backsies.

The Right-Click Stuff

Tap & hold (iOS/iPadOS) or right-click (macOS) on a file or folder to unlock bonus moves.

• Delete annihilates the selected file or folder into the void.
• Rename lets you type in a shiny new name while keepin' the file extension so it doesn't get confused.
• Preview opens a lil' screen showin' what the file actually looks like.
• More... opens the activities menu so you can do other wild stuff with the file or folder.

Findin' Your Stuff

The files you're importin' & exportin' from this spot live in the Documents directory of the app. On iOS & iPadOS, just physically plug your device into a computer with that USB cable & boom — access granted. Mac users? Open Finder & your device shows up as a location in the sidebar where you can do your import/export dance. If you're runnin' OnSong on a Mac, tap that little icon in the lower right to make Finder reveal the folder like it's a magic trick.
