The Thingy Where You, Like, Actually Edit Stuff
Sets allow you to perform songs for a specific event. To create a set, you tap on the + button in the set list to open the set editor. Here you can specify the following info about the set. (Yeah, we know you got this. Probably.)
Title
The title of the set is optional. Like, totally optional. If you actually bother to type one in, the set name shows up in lists. If you're lazy & skip it, we'll just slap the date & time on there instead. No judgment.
Date/Time
The date for the set is required (sorry, can't dodge this one) & will automatically choose today's date, or the next date when you've enabled typical days. You can also optionally set a time for the set by tapping on the time button beside the date. Its menu offers No Time, the times your sets usually start, & Choose Time…, which opens a time wheel so you can pick literally any time you want. A set with No Time gets plunked at the start of its day. When a time is selected, the OnSong® app can list songs & moments in the set list with the time they're performed if you set a duration on songs.
Today's date or the nearest typical day is automatically selected. If you're the type to add like fifty sets & keep adding more, OnSong will ask if you'd like to schedule sets on Typical Days. If you're into that, OnSong will scope out your sets to figure out what days of the week you usually create sets. You can change this if you're feelin' fickle by tapping on the wrench icon to open the Typical Days Settings screen.
Options
Here's a buncha stuff you can tweak to make OnSong® behave however you want for this set.
Folders
Tap this & you'll see the Choose Folder Screen, where you can pick one or more folders to throw your set into. Already have a folder picked? Cool, we'll just dump your new set there without bugging you. Optional, so chill.
Audio Playback Continuity
Using backing tracks? Sweet. This setting lets you play through all your backing tracks like they're some kinda playlist. The default lives over in Settings » Live Settings » Audio Playback.
- Default shows up till you pick somethin', & uses the default from Audio Playback settings.
- None means each audio track needs you to hit play or set up a trigger. No automation, sorry.
- On lets audio tracks play through all songs in a set like you're not even there. Hands-free vibes.
- Repeat plays your audio tracks continuously. When the last one finishes, BAM, we loop back to the first one.
Scene
Scenes are basically your visual mood ring. Use 'em to set lyrics projection backgrounds & handle stage lighting. Assign a scene to the set & you can change the background color, image, or video behind lyrics, plus update your stage light colors when the set loads. Fancy, right?
Separate Styles
Sets grab songs from your master library. But what if you wanna change the key of a song in a set without torching the master copy? Boom. Separate styles. Let you style & transpose songs in this set without messin' with the master song library. Here's what you got:
- Default uses the settings you configured under Utilities Menu » Settings » Menu Settings » Songs » Sets.
- Off saves any changes you make to the song within the set to your master library. Won't affect other sets that have Separate Set/Song Styles turned on.
- On saves changes to the set only. Master library? Untouched. Other sets? Also untouched. Clean.
Preferred Keys
Some peeps like to perform or play in specific keys. Maybe you've got a certain vocal range or you're still learnin' that instrument. These settings let songs automatically transpose or capo to match what you're into.
Performance Keys
Pick the keys that feel right when you're up there performin'. Maybe you slay in G or A? Pick those. OnSong will make sure the final key lands in one of your faves by transposin' to the closest match.
Playable Keys
Choose the keys you can actually play in. Still learnin' guitar or piano & those sharps & flats are brutal? Pick keys you're comfy with like C, D, & G. OnSong will capo the song so it's playable in one of your preferred performance keys.
