Low Light Mode
Arrr, one o' th' advantages t' usin' an iPad on stage be that it be automatically backlit, matey. This means that ye don't need t' supply additional lightin' fer paper charts. Because it be backlit, it be also easier t' read even though th' screen be smaller. Ye get higher contrast an' sharper text, savvy? Startin' in OnSong 2020.8, non-text documents includin' PDF files can also be viewed in low light mode.
When T' Use
Blimey, if ye play on a dimly lit stage or outdoors, ye may quickly come t' appreciate this advantage, ye scallywag. But usin' white paper an' black text be not ideal fer these environments. Th' bright light can be hard on yer eyes. In addition, th' ambient light from screens can cause yer face t' glow white on stage. T' make things easier on yer eyes an' less distracin' fer yer audience, use low light mode, Ahoy!
Enablein' Low Light Mode
Low light mode be enabled either from a foot pedal, a hot corner, or from th' settings screen. T' enable, sail into Settings » Display Settings » Enable Low Light Mode an' switch that on. When ye tap Done, yer screen will redraw with low light mode enabled, matey.
Now yer chord chart an' menus will appear with a black background an' white text. If ye want yer menus t' retain their white background an' black text, ye can change this settings in Settings » Menu Settings » Use Dark Menus in Low Light Mode.
Settin' an Action
Avast! Ye can also toggle low light mode on an' off usin' either a foot pedal, hot corner, or MIDI trigger.
- T' set a foot pedal action, sail into th' Foot Pedal Setup Screen, tap on a foot pedal an' then pick th' Toggle Low Light Mode action in th' Actions Menu.
