Pick Your Chaos Layer

The overlay picker lets you build freakin' gorgeous lyrics projection backgrounds by smooshin' together color, images, or video with some semi-see-through overlay magic. Use these bad boys to make lyrics actually readable over your janky video content, add a little pizzazz to your snooze-fest graphics, or pair 'em up with Scenes as a spotlight (fancy, amirite).

Once you're done messin' with stuff, tap the Done button up top right, or chicken out by tappin' Back or Cancel. No judgment. (OK fine, a little judgment.)

The Whole Look Thing

Pick one of our pre-baked overlay styles. Each one comes with a lil' preview & a checkmark stickin' to whatever you already picked.

  • None = overlay goes poof. Goodbye!
  • Fade fades from see-through at the top to black at the bottom. Spooky vibes.
  • Grunge slaps that weathered concrete energy all over your background image or video.
  • Pinstripe throws a skinny vignette & vertical pinstripe lines at ya. Very fancy. Very 1987.
  • Rumple makes everything look like wrinkled fabric. Your background is now a bedsheet.
  • Spotlight turns your projector into an actual light for Scenes shenanigans—control the whole background color with sequences. Mind. Blown.
  • Victorian gives your pics that dusty old wallpaper energy. Chef's kiss for your grandma's aesthetic.
  • Vignette does a circular fade-out at the edges. Real subtle. Real classy. Highlights that boring background you paid good money for.
  • Wintery throws icy crystals around the edges—pair it with a white overlay & suddenly you're Elsa. (You're welcome.)
  • Custom lets you yolo a custom image from the Thingy That Picks Your Background & the image's opacity becomes your overlay's opacity magic. PNG format ftw for transparency.

The Color Situation

Overlays come standard in tragic black, but you can pick from all kinds of greyscale options: black, dark gray, gray, light gray & white. If you've already set a custom color in Scenes, that one shows up to the right of the basics. Ooh, look at you gettin' fancy.

Wanna make your own colors? Tap that + button on the right. If you're gonna nerd out on custom color creation & management, check out the Color Picker situation.

How Transparent Is This Thing (Opacity)

Crank that overlay opacity anywhere from 0% to 100%. This stacks on top of whatever opacity your color already has. Example: color's at 50% opacity, overlay's at 50% opacity? You get 25% opacity. Math! (You're welcome for the flashback to high school.)
